Division Overview:

Crown’s Food Division is the number one manufacturer of food cans in the world. Our complete array of food packaging serves a variety of markets, including fruit, vegetables, dairy, fish, meat, ready meals, pet food, infant milk powder and other dry food products. We offer a wide selection of food cans from round to bowl as well as shaped cans. We truly focus on excellence. Here is your chance to join the Crown Food Division.

Location:

Plant 37 is located in Hanover, PA. The Plant manufactures 2-piece and 3-piece steel cans for the food industry. There are approximately 95 employees at the Hanover location. The Hanover Plant is located on Route 194 in York County and is in close proximity to York, PA, Gettysburg, PA and the Maryland border.

Position overview:

The Forklift Operator moves unfinished and finished goods, loads and unloads trucks and stages product. This position supports operations and shipping and receiving work areas based on business needs. This is a 3d Shift position scheduled Monday-Friday 11:00pm-7:30am. The hourly rate of pay is $22.24 with an additional $2 shift differential.

Duties And Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Forklift Operator responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Ensure safe operating practices;
  • Complete forklift operator training annually, provided by Company;
  • Perform routine pre and post inspections on forklift equipment to ensure forklift equipment is operating well;
  • Move controls, levers, and devices to drive industrial forklifts to transport materials; between loading, unloading, processing and storage areas;
  • Visually perform quality checks as required on incoming materials, trailers, and outgoing finished goods, etc.;
  • Organize and secure materials where loads of materials and pallets are stored;
  • Able to read and understand pallet tickets and date codes and production schedules;
  • Manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices;
  • Wraps loads as needed;
  • Pick orders and/or unload trailers to meet shipping and receiving schedules;
  • Operate computer to navigate inventory systems;
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements

  • 1+ years forklift operation experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Must be qualified as to visual, auditory, physical, and mental ability to operate the equipment safely
  • Able to work alternate work schedules including overtime, voluntary and mandatory, based on business needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with other team members and external contacts
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to establish and maintain a high level of organization and quality.

Preferred Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of all OSHA related training in a manufacturing environment.
  • 6S Training
  • Understands equipment needs and modifications.
  • Familiarization with quality standards and line processes.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for 8-12 hour shifts

Working Conditions

  • Generally, works in a plant environment, some responsibilities may be performed in office setting
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to light lifting, warehouse forklift traffic
  • Production noise level is frequently loud
