About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Food & Beverage department in Dubai, the Barista will offer and prepare an outstanding selection of creative beverages. They will support the Waiters in any other required duties and tasks under the guidance of the respective managers and supervisors. The Barista reports to the Head Barista.

As a Barista, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Understand and verbally explain the outlet’s concept and food and beverage offerings to guests, including the characteristics of various drinks.

  • Mix and match ingredients to create outstanding non-alcoholic drinks, coffee, espresso, blended coffee, and teas, garnishing them as per standards.

  • Handle customer complaints effectively, both verbal and written, and report them to managers without fail.

  • Set up the daily bar counter, ensuring all necessary ingredients and equipment are prepared, and check inventory to avoid running out of stock during service periods.

  • Clean and sanitise designated areas after each shift, conduct periodic deep cleaning, and ensure correct date labelling for all products.

  • Assist in creating new blended drinks for promotional activities and new menus, and perform cashiering duties if requested.

As a Barista, we expect from you: 

  • Hold a High School qualification or equivalent, with a degree or Higher National Diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management preferred.

  • Have 3 years’ experience as a Barista/Bartender in a high-end bar with the highest service levels, and a minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a luxury hotel/resort bartender.

  • Possess verbal and written communication skills in English, preferably in Arabic or other languages.

  • Be familiar with restaurant point of sales and cashiering procedures and can prepare and suggest classic and innovative beverages.

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with guests and colleagues and exhibit exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Have physical capabilities to stand for long periods and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business requires.
