As a member of 3M's world-class Litigation and Subject Matter Experts team, you will lead and partner closely with other internal groups on complex, cutting-edge discovery and data-related issues. Here, you will make an impact by: - Leading 3M's internal discovery team and 3M discovery strategy - Strategically managing external discovery counsel while closely coordinating with internal and external litigation and regulatory counsel - Refining a unified, enterprise-wide discovery strategy and framework, while partnering closely with other internal teams on legal issues and policies related to information governance and records management - Lead, as needed, or support 26(f) preparation and discovery-related negotiations, including ESI protocols and preservation agreements - Closely monitoring and advising on internal and external spend - Closely monitoring and advising on legal and regulatory developments - Partnering with Government Affairs and other groups on policy issues and advocacy • *Your Skills and Expertise** To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: - Juris Doctorate (completed and verfied prior to start) - Admitted to practice in any state in the U.S. in good standing - Ten (10) years of experience at a law firm or corporate legal department - Seven (7) years of experience leading complex discovery-related matters in a strategic manner (10+ years preferred) • *Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:** - Experience working in a sophisticated corporate legal department, ideally leading the discovery function and/or managing large discovery teams - Demonstrated expertise serving as lead discovery counsel on large, complex litigation matters in a private, public, government or military environment - Significant IT knowledge, with a focus on data lifecycle management - Experience managing outside counsel - Experience managing to a budget and alternative fee arrangements • *Skills and qualities include:** - Honesty and unwavering integrity - Long-term, strategic, and practical thinker - Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate transparently, efficiently, and effectively at all levels within a team environment - Demonstrated capability of working with agility and efficiently managing projects with a constant focus on outcomes - Self-starter with the ability to triage and manage time-sensitive matters simultaneously - Sense of humor, curiosity, and a drive for continuous improvement • *Travel: May include up** **to 10% domestic/international** • *Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).** • *Supporting Your Well-being** 3M offers many programs to help you live your best life - both physically and financially.
