Job Summary

The Factory Manager is responsible for managing daily factory operations involving animal or insect-based production, such as insect processing, animal feed, or organic fertilizer manufacturing. The role ensures production runs efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively while maintaining proper hygiene, biosecurity, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day factory operations to meet production, quality, and cost targets.
  • Oversee production processes involving biological or animal-based materials, ensuring stable and controlled operating conditions.
  • Propose, plan, and execute factory layout, production flow, and processing steps to improve efficiency, safety, and scalability.
  • Monitor key operational metrics including output, yield, losses, downtime, and waste.
  • Lead and supervise production and maintenance teams, including manpower planning and shift management.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and production disruptions are minimized.
  • Enforce SOPs related to safety, hygiene, and biosecurity.
  • Identify process issues and implement practical improvements to increase efficiency and reduce losses.
  • Coordinate with quality, supply chain, and management teams and provide basic operational reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Animal Science, Biotechnology, or related field.
  • 5–8 years experience in manufacturing involving animal feed, insect-based production, organic fertilizer, or similar industries.
  • Experience managing factory or production operations.
  • Experience in factory layout planning or process improvement is preferred.
  • Understanding of hygiene, biosecurity, and biological process control.
  • Hands-on leader with strong problem-solving and people management skills.

Salary Range: Up to RM15k
