Job Description

Olopito Farm is seeking a dedicated and hands-on Farm Supervisor to oversee our daily operations, ensuring optimal productivity, efficiency, and adherence to best agricultural practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily farm operations including planting, irrigation, pest control, harvesting, and post-harvest handling for various crops.
  • Supervise and manage livestock care, feeding, health, breeding programs, and general welfare.
  • Lead, train, and manage a team of farm workers, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Plan and implement crop rotation schedules, soil management practices, and fertilization programs to optimize yields.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of all farm machinery, equipment, and infrastructure, coordinating repairs as needed.
  • Monitor weather conditions, crop health, and market trends to make informed operational and strategic decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all farm activities, produce yields, input usage, and basic financial transactions.
  • Implement and enforce stringent health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices on the farm.
  • Efficiently procure farm inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, feeds, and equipment, managing inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with farm management on strategic planning, budget management, and farm development initiatives for long-term growth.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in farm management or supervision, preferably in mixed farming (crops and livestock).
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural practices, crop cycles, pest and disease management, and animal husbandry.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various farm machinery and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Animal Science, or a related field.

  • Experience with specific crops or livestock prevalent in Narok County (e.g., maize, beans, wheat, dairy cattle, sheep).
  • Valid driver's license (tractor operating experience is a significant advantage).
  • First Aid and occupational Safety certifications.
