Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and efficient General Helper to join our food service team. This role is essential in supporting daily kitchen and dining room operations by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, stocking service areas, and ensuring a positive dining experience for guests. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality or camp-style environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Service Support

  • Prepare basic food items such as salads, desserts, sandwich ingredients, and cold items
  • Portion and assemble food items according to guidelines
  • Refill and maintain juice machines, beverage stations, and condiment areas
  • Ensure service lines are clean, stocked, and ready for meal periods
  • Serve guests on the line as required

Kitchen & Dining Room Support

  • Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and equipment using commercial dishwashing equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas, including sweeping, mopping, and waste disposal
  • Assist with inventory reporting for dining room and kitchen essentials
  • Organize and put away grocery deliveries and supplies
  • Assist with bussing tables and maintaining dining room cleanliness

Health, Safety & Teamwork

  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
  • Collaborate with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Report maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions promptly
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members

Shift Schedule

  • Cross-shift schedule: Approximately 10-hour days
  • Rotation: 2 weeks on / 1 week off
  • 1 week day shift / 1 week night shift

Requirements & Skills

  • Experience in food service, hospitality, or a similar environment preferred
  • Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
  • Strong cleaning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • English required
  • Food Safe Certification is an asset
  • Experience in hotels, camps, banquets, or catering is an advantage
