We are currently looking for a Head of Modern Trade for one of Malaysia's leading importers and distributors of premium FMCG food products. This position is responsible to drive commercial growth across major Modern Trade retail channels, and requires your urgent attention.

  • Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer
  • Location: Shah Alam
  • Join a premium FMCG player in a strategic leadership role to manage total Modern Trade operations, optimize a growing multi-million-ringgit channel, and rebuild a high-performing sales team.


the role
  • Lead the overall sales strategy for the Modern Trade channel, driving revenue growth across all retail channels and ensuring strong store performance.
  • Take ownership of a high-potential retail division, managing key accounts including Aeon, Giant, Jaya Grocer, Village Grocer, Econsave, and TF Value-Mart.
  • Build a high-performance, target-driven sales culture by leading and mentoring a team of 8 (including AKAMs, Sales Executives, and Merchandisers).
  • Collaborate closely with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure stock availability, optimize inventory levels to reduce stockouts, and oversee promotional execution at the store level.
  • Own retail division revenue and profitability targets, monitor critical KPIs (stock turnover, sales per square foot), conduct sales forecasting, and implement corrective actions.


the experience
  • Minimum 6 years of FMCG key account management experience, with 2 years in a managerial position.
  • Extensive network and proven track record in managing Modern Trade (MT) channels and premium grocers in Malaysia.
  • Experience handling chilled, frozen, or short-shelf-life FMCG products is highly advantageous.
  • Resilient and strategic people leader, capable of data-driven decision making with a strong commercial acumen.
