The Screening Specialist manages first-round interviews for Budtenders, Leads, and other entry-level roles for all retail markets. This role ensures candidates meet baseline qualifications, regulatory requirements, and cultural fit before being passed to Hiring Managers. Given the critical frontline nature of our retail roles, the Screening Specialist plays a key role in ensuring customer service-focused, compliant candidates move forward to support and staff our dispensaries.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-volume video screenings for Budtenders, Leads, and other entry-level retail roles.
  • Assess candidates for customer service skills, regulatory eligibility, availability, and alignment with our brand and retail culture.
  • Manage intake volume to ensure timely movement of candidates into the hiring funnel.
  • Collaborate with regional TA Coordinators on staffing priorities by market
  • Screen and select candidates based on availability or other needs outlined by TA Leadership or Hiring Managers
  • Track screening-to-hire ratios and suggest improvements to reduce bottlenecks.
  • Support and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across all recruitment activities and leadership pipelines.
  • Attain or exceed the hiring performance indicators, including time to fill, candidate quality, retention rate, and others.
  • Ensure every candidate’s interaction reflects professionalism, inclusiveness, and alignment with company culture.
  • Maintain accurate candidate records in ATS, ensuring compliance documentation is tracked.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • 1–2 years of HR, recruiting, retail hiring, or customer service experience.
  • High school diploma required
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Strong interviewing and assessment skills.
  • Experience with the use of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), UKG preferred
  • Knowledge of cannabis retail roles and competencies, and expectations preferred by role
  • Ability to manage high candidate volume while ensuring compliance.
  • Ability to travel, as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
