Hanover Research - Senior Research Associate, Higher Education Arlington, VA Remote Opportunity As a Senior Research Associate you will conduct secondary/bench research on a wide range of higher education research topics. A Senior Research Associate works on Hanover’s most common project types and more customized research, including new academic program market analyses, best practices reports, environmental scans, and competitive benchmarking analyses. The Research Associate will execute individual projects for Higher Education clients and serve as a member of a small team of researchers under the guidance of a Research Director. As a Senior Research Associate, you also will have the opportunity to contribute to Hanover’s proprietary online library of reports and research briefs on key topics in higher education, as well as to the development of thought leadership pieces such as trends reports and presentations that are distributed to higher education leaders globally. Responsibilities • Conduct secondary research to address research questions related to key topics in Higher Education • Analyze and synthesize publicly available data and secondary source materials to: • Tell a coherent story • Clearly communicate key findings • Make actionable recommendations for decision-makers • Determine best visual aid/graphics for use in projects and produce complex tables and graphs • Work as strategic partner to content directors to identify new data sources, methodologies, and solutions to overcome research challenges • Produce client-ready deliverables, largely in PPT, to communicate findings to varying audiences (e.g., senior higher education administrators and board members, faculty members, community members) • Independently manage different phases of the project lifecycle (e.g.., research, analysis and synthesis, and creating a polished deliverable) • Serve as a Project Lead to other researchers Qualifications • Self-motivated • Ability to work quickly and independently • Detail-oriented • Thrives in a fast-paced environment • Able to meet deadlines • Intellectually curious • Motivated to assume increasing levels of responsibility • Interested in Higher Education topics and helping Hanover’s Higher Education clients make important, research-driven decisions Skills & Experience • Experience conducting secondary research and communicating findings in writing, preferably market research or social science research, • The ability to • Strategize • Think creatively • Problem-solve or course-correct • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Proven ability to closely proofread/self-edit • Ability to succinctly and effectively synthesize content and pull out key insights • Ability to visualize data using graphics, tables, charts, and graphs • Proficiency in arenaflex Power Point, Excel, and Word • Familiarity with higher education and higher education databases (e.g., IPEDS) is preferred • Experience writing for business/non-academic audiences is preferred Education Requirement A bachelor’s in English, History, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, or a related writing/research-intensive discipline is preferred, though candidates with relevant experience and who hold other degrees will be considered. Master’s degree preferred. Experience Requirement 1 - 3 years of business or academic experience conducting research or professional writing. Applied market research experience is preferred. Education may substitute for work experience. The compensation range for this role at the company is $53,800 - $75,320. Please note that the base salary offered is contingent on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
