Job Overview
The Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day activities of a specific team as it pertains to the hydroponic production process. The team leader ensures compliance with quality, safety, efficiency and established time standards. The team leader also ensures the compliance and adherence of the team to company policies, food safety standards, good manufacturing practices and required sanitation.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the transplant of seedlings from propagation flats to production boards according to the production schedule.
  • Ensure the correct identification and management of varieties.
  • Responsible for the team being trained in all transplanting processes and techniques.
  • Report plant problems, pests or diseases to the Production Manager.
  • Maintaining all the ponds properly covered by the end of the shift.
  • Accurately completing the data collection sheet at the end of every shift.
  • The upkeep of equipment and inventory.
  • The completion of all assigned team production tasks before the shift is completed.
  • Ensuring the area is ready for the next shift.
  • Upholding all food safety requirements for the department.
  • Responsible for training the team in their respective areas.
  • Team Leaders are responsible for confirming Work in Process (WIP) including the batch number and quantities of production materials.

Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of general experience in the area of Operations, preferably in the hydroponic agriculture industry in Puerto Rico.
  • Basic knowledge of agricultural techniques and hydroponics.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
